Mathematics & Science Teacher Education Recruitment is a four-year $870,000 NSF award designed to attract undergraduate students who excel in the fields of mathematics and science and prepare them for careers as middle school science and mathematics teachers in urban communities. Professor Qian recruited a cohort of 24 students for the competitive three-year program—one year as college seniors and two years as Master‘s level students. “Students receive training, utilize the current technologies to conduct classes, and participate in middle school clinical internships from their first year in the program.”
