Overview of Position


The Curriculum Developer/Facilitator will work under the supervision of the Director of the Community Health Worker Training Program and in collaboration with staff from Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. The project’s main goal is to identify topics in the current CHW curriculum, which align closely with the apprentices’ daily tasks, and to reinforce and enhance that connection in the curriculum.

Deliverables for this project include: 1) a defined set of topics and areas within the didactic curriculum for further alignment with the on-the-job learning portion of the program, and 2) a fully developed lesson and accompanying materials for one selected topic from the list of areas for further alignment. These will serve as a template and a guide for further curriculum enhancement.

Responsibilities Include

  • Familiarization with the current CHW curriculum
  • Facilitating three meetings with the selected four CHW supervisors at Bronx Lebanon Hospital to determine curriculum priorities and receive feedback on work products
  • Reviewing Bronx Lebanon’s existing Community Health Worker job description
  • Examining peer mentors’ support role in the apprenticeship process
  • Identifying and delineating curriculum topics for further development
  • Selecting one topic and fully developing lesson plans with learning objectives and detailed instructions for teachers
  • Soliciting and integrating assessments from CHW faculty
  • Projecting additional curriculum development

  • BA in a health or education-related discipline
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Group facilitation experience
  • Curriculum development experience

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience teaching or developing curriculum for community health workers
  • Experience supervising community health workers or experience as a community health worker
