General Description

Queensborough Community College's Division of Pre-College, Continuing Education & Workforce Development is looking to hire part-time Behavioral Health Instructors for the Empowerment Services Peer Support Training Program for New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation. The program includes four-hour modules to train Peers and Peer Champions in the following subject areas and will be offered multiple times in the next year and a half:

 

  • The Integration of Peers into the New Behavioral Health-Home and Community Based Services (BH-HCBS) Model
  • Providing Optimal Services to the BH-HCBS Population Through Understanding of Co-Occurring Disorders
  • The Integrated Treatment Team: Teamwork Principles & Practices
  • Advocacy for Empowerment: The Stages of Change Model and Motivational Interviewing
  • Ethics, Cultural Competency and Education & Mentoring for Empowerment
  • Recovery & Wellness for Empowerment
  • Collaboration & Teamwork to Deliver Optimal Services to the Target Population

Other Duties

The part-time Behavioral Health Instructors will be responsible for working collaboratively with both QCC and the NYC Health + Hospitals Corporation to prepare for, instruct, implement and evaluate the four-hour modules. The Instructors must have demonstrated experience and expertise in teaching Peers and must be able to work experientially and skillfully with students in a collaborative learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree; MSW, MHT, M.Ed. or MPA preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching Behavioral Health topics to a diverse student population.
  • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Certification.
  • Experience teaching CRPA curriculum.
  • Experience working with and supervising Peers in a health-care setting.
  • Outstanding Facilitation and Communication skills.
