General Description

The general duties of the finance accounting assistant position performs professional work in the field of accounting in the higher education setting and coordinates accounting activities.

 

The finance accounting assistant will report to the Associate Business Manager. The finance accounting assistant will perform the following functions specific to the campus including:

  • Entering cash receipts into Financial Edge accounting system
  • Maintain cash receipt files
  • Prepare and maintain special events schedule and contracts
  • Responsible for allocating facility rental income to corresponding funds
  • Prepare bank reconciliation for a variety of accounts including bank accounts related to the York College Foundation, Auxiliary, Association, and Child & Family Center
  • Prepare and enter journal entries for various accounts on a monthly basis
  • Maintain files for stale dated checks for related entities

Other Duties

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CUNYfirst and/or other People Soft system
  • Knowledge of Financial Edge
  • Undergraduate coursework in accounting
