General Description

Objective: The NYC Tech Talent Pipeline Residency Program at Baruch College is seeking Teaching Assistants to support a 10-week Data Analytics and Cybersecurity Bootcamp for Computer Information Systems (CIS) majors. The bootcamp will be operating on a hybrid (in-person and virtual) schedule. The instructional team includes one (1) Instructor, four (4) Teaching 
Assistants, and one (1) Lead Teaching Assistant. Teaching Assistants will provide in-person support to approximately 40 CUNY students, guide project work, reinforce technical concepts, and facilitate hands-on learning activities.

Reports To: Program Manager, TTP Residency at Baruch College
Timeline: Anticipated timeframe: June 16 – August 18, 2025
Anticipated schedule is 19 hours per week

ABOUT THE TECH TALENT PIPELINE:
The NYC Tech Talent Pipeline (TTP), an initiative of the Workforce Development Corporation (WDC), is the City of New York’s tech industry partnership. Launched in 2014, TTP supports the inclusive growth of NYC’s tech sector and prepares New Yorkers for 21st-century careers. Through partnerships with over 385 companies, 17 local colleges, and numerous public and private collaborators, TTP designs innovative training models that align academic learning with real industry demands.

Other Duties

  • Support students in mastering core data Analytics and cybersecurity concepts
  • Provide guidance during hands-on labs, group projects, and individual assignments
  • Facilitate small-group breakout sessions and one-on-one instruction to reinforce classroom content
  • Assist with grading assignments, including pre/post assessments and capstone projects
  • Help students navigate online tutorials and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Contribute to assignment development or curriculum improvements as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems or equivalent math / science discipline
  • Proficiency in key Data Analytics Tools: Python (pandas, numpy), SQL, Excel, Tableau or Power BI
  • Familiarity with Cybersecurity Concepts: security fundamentals, threat detection, secure networks, access controls
  • Strong understanding of Git and GitHub collaboration workflows

PREFERRED:

  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Prior experience as a teaching assistant in a bootcamp or CUNY academic setting
  • Interest or knowledge of cybersecurity certifications or frameworks (e.g., NIST, CompTIA)
  • Experience supporting learning in online classrooms 
  • SECURITY+ and / or CISSP 
  • Other Tech / Cyber / networking industry certification is a plus
