Center for HIV/AIDS Educational Studies and Training (CHEST)

The Center for HIV/AIDS Educational Studies and Training (CHEST) of Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) is hiring for a part-time On-Call Clinician based on the West Coast (e.g., CA, OR, WA). CHEST (www.chestnyc.org) is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary research center which blends academic and community-based work focused on sexual health, HIV/AIDS, LGBT issues, and substance use. Responsibilities: The On-Call Clinician will be responsible for the remote delivery (e.g., via Skype, Facetime, or telephone) of Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Interventions in NIH-funded trials focusing on sexual behavioral health, substance use, and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment with adolescents. The On-Call Clinician will report to the Deputy Clinical Director and the Research Scientist (both PhD-level staff based in New York, NY) via telephone, Skype, and/or videoconference. The caseload is expected to range from 1 to 5 clients on a weekly basis for 30-40 minute sessions and clients will be assigned directly by CHEST staff. The Clinician will be responsible for managing scheduling of the client after initial assignment as well as maintaining detailed electronic session records within our online system. The Clinician will also receive weekly remote supervision from a licensed Clinical Psychologist. The On-Call Clinician will be expected to work out of their own space and assigned cases will typically require evening sessions.

Salary: A competitive hourly rate will be billed directly to CHEST based on weekly caseload.

Qualifications

Requirements:  A master’s degree in a mental health field (e.g., LSW or Mental Health Counseling) with a license to deliver mental health services; prior experience working with adolescents is essential. Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is strongly preferred. Previous work providing counseling or support services to the LGBT population is highly desired as is experience with substance use treatment and experience with issues related to sexuality and sexual health.  Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
