General Description

The Rooted and Relational Arts Researcher will focus on developing an arts centered public facing project related to the theme of “Archives, Memory, and the Present Past of Puerto Rico”. Area of expertise is open but we especially encourage applications from artists and researchers working in music, audiovisual, and multimedia disciplines.

Other Duties

  • Conducting artistic research and producing public-facing arts centered work.
  • Participating in regular research seminars at CENTRO.
  • Contributing to CENTRO programming and project development
  • Engaging in collaborative research with other CENTRO staff and fellows as well as working with undergraduate research assistants and interns.
  • Supporting and performing other research or educational related duties as assigned by the Centro Director.

Qualifications

  • BFA required
  • 5-7 years of public facing artistic practice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Superior communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Interest in Puerto Rican Studies
  • Spanish language skills are preferred but not required

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
