General Description

The Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is a beacon of innovation and knowledge creation in higher education, a two-year college where evidence-based high-impact practices in curriculum design and delivery permeate the educational model and have yielded graduation rates that are the highest in CUNY’s community college sector and above the national average. POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Program Director will support the Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Guttman Community College in developing, launching, and managing non-credit workforce programs for adult learners. This individual will lead key operational and project management functions, including overseeing program implementation, supporting student registration, coordinating with internal and external partners, and ensuring a high-quality student experience. The manager will also be responsible for marketing programs, managing relationships with employers and internship providers, and supporting faculty and curriculum development. 

Other Duties

Program Operations & Administration 

  • Provide comprehensive operational support for programs, many of which occur during evenings and weekends
  • Track attendance, schedule classes, and coordinate orientations using tools like Excel, Google Workspace, and scheduling platforms
  • Organize events, workshops, and training sessions that promote workforce readiness and community engagement
  • Conduct follow-up outreach with students to support retention and success
  • Track program performance metrics and compile regular reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Recommend improvements to enhance student engagement, scheduling workflows, and communication strategies
  • Prioritize accessibility and inclusion by ensuring materials and sessions meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff to ensure high performance and consistent student support

Program Planning & Execution 

  • Assist the Dean in planning, developing, and executing workforce development programs, beginning with the Behavioral Health Program
  • Coordinate curriculum development in collaboration with faculty, industry experts, and community stakeholders
  • Use labor market data (e.g., NYS Department of Labor, Light Cast, real-time job postings) to identify emerging workforce needs and inform program development
  • Support fundraising efforts and grant initiatives related to new or expanded programs

Student Recruitment & Employer Engagement 

  • Partner with internal teams to recruit students into workforce programs
  • Manage student registration and maintain accurate enrollment records
  • Provide advisement to students, referring them to appropriate services as needed
  • Ensure a seamless, high-quality student experience by liaising with Guttman faculty, staff, and external partners
  • Develop in partnership with CCPP, internal and external partners for various internship, apprenticeship, and job placement opportunities aligned with program goals, and cultivate and manage partnerships with employers, industry leaders, and community organizations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in education, Business, Public Administration, or a related field  
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination or workforce development 
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders  
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and learning management systems (LMS) is a plus

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in education, Business, Public Administration, or a related field  
  • Experience in behavioral health or healthcare-related workforce programs
  • Knowledge of funding sources and grant writing  
  • Experience in data collection, reporting outcomes, and program evaluation
  • Prior teaching and curriculum development experience
