General Description
Queensborough Community College (QCC) has been awarded a three year grant federally funded grant aimed to increase the diversity in the nursing workforce in order to decrease health care disparities.
The Student Success Advocate will be working collaboratively with the High School Liaison and the College Facilitator to advise, coach, and provide assistance to our high school students as well as our beginning college students at Queensborough Community College (QCC); who are disadvantaged either socioeconomically or educationally, to facilitate and promote the nursing profession and successful entry into our nursing program. QCC has in place a program for such high school students, Project Prize, from where we have recruited students for this program. A vital part of students' success will be through the assistance of the Student Success Advocate who will be responsible to personally meet with students to review their academic progress, offer advice regarding tutoring, classes, or other interventions that the Advocate determines is necessary to help the students succeed. In addition, the Advocate will work with the Director and Mentoring Coordinator to work with students and their families addressing any participants concerns or perceived barriers to nursing career preparation.
This is a part-time one year position (20 hours/week) with a start date of July 1, 2015 and ending on June 30, 2016

Qualifications
Experience with the high school population especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds and possess some experience with counseling. Must possess excellent therapeutic communication skills
Experience and knowledge working with the HRSA website
Experience with excel spreadsheets

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
